Publication Overview

The Asiatic Society, Kolkata is internationally recognised for its long tradition of rigorous and original scholarly publishing. This legacy began in 1788, just four years after the Society’s founding, with the launch of Asiatic Researches, inspired by Sir William Jones’s vision of studying both “Man and Nature.”

Today, the Society publishes across a wide range of disciplines, including history, archaeology, linguistics, philosophy, literature, and cultural studies. Its publishing programme includes established series such as Bibliotheca Indica, Monographs, Seminar and Public Lecture volumes, Catalogues, Bibliographical works, and selected miscellaneous titles.

The Society also produces regular periodicals, notably the Journal of the Asiatic Society and the Monthly Bulletin, alongside commemorative and informational booklets.
